Tumor Antigens

Tumor antigens are proteins expressed on the surface of tumor cells or secreted into the bloodstream. Tumor antigens have been identified for most human cancers. There are two major classes of tumor antigens. Tumor-specific antigens (TSA), are found only on cancer cells, not on healthy cells and tumor-associated antigens (TAA), which are highly expressed on tumor cells, but are also expressed at lower levels on healthy cells. Many cancer immunotherapy antibodies rely on targeting TSA/TAAā€™s.

Antibodies against TAAs/TSAs can be used to selectively kill tumor cells via ADCC activity but can also be used as a diagnostic to simply identify tumor cells. Bio X Cell offers several antibodies specific for tumor antigens which can be used to identify tumor cells in a sample or as cancer immunotherapies in mouse models or humanized mouse models.
