Product Description
This product is an F(ab) fragment derived from the anti-human CD3 antibody clone UCHT1 (Leu-4) (T3). UCHT1 reacts with human CD3ε, a 20 kDa transmembrane protein that is part of the T cell receptor (TCR) complex and is expressed on T lymphocytes, NK-T cells, and to varying degrees on developing thymocytes. CD3 plays a central role in TCR signaling, T cell activation, and antigen recognition. Unlike the full-length UCHT1 antibody, this F(ab) fragment contains only the antigen-binding region and lacks the Fc domain. As a result, the fragment retains specific binding to human CD3 while eliminating Fc-mediated effector functions such as Fcγ receptor engagement and complement activation. This format can be useful in experiments where CD3 engagement or targeting is desired without Fc-dependent immune effects that could complicate interpretation of results. Because Fc-mediated interactions are absent, the UCHT1 F(ab) fragment may provide a more controlled reagent for studying CD3/TCR engagement, receptor binding, and T cell targeting while minimizing secondary immune mechanisms associated with the Fc region. CD3-binding fragments may also be useful in receptor-directed delivery approaches, including the targeting of nanoparticles, viral vectors, or other delivery systems to human T cells. This anti-human CD3 F(ab) fragment therefore provides a useful tool for studies requiring specific recognition of human CD3 with reduced Fc-dependent activity.
