In May 2020, the Bio X Cell Fund made a gift to Willing Hands. Willing Hands is an organization that distributes free, fresh, wholesome food to those in need in the Upper Valley. Their mission is to recover food in order to reduce waste, improve health, and provide reliable access to nutritious food. Most of the food they distribute would otherwise go to waste. Nearly half of this food is donated by local farms, and the remainder is supplied by grocery stores, individuals, and the volunteer-run Willing Hands garden.

The food recovered by Willing Hands is delivered to over 50 food shelves, senior centers, community dinner sites, and other non-profits every week. Of this food, 93% consists of fresh fruits and vegetables which provide an essential supplement to the shelf-stable food available at food shelves.

In addition to their food deliveries, Willing Hands offers a popular nutrition education series at their recipient sites. These workshops have a designated nutritional focus and provides hands-on instructions for food preparation.

The Bio X Cell Fund is proud to be a supporter of Willing Hands and their wonderful mission.
