Product Description
The 124-1D1 monoclonal antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of the human surface receptor CD7, also known as T-cell leukemia antigen, GP40, Tp40, TP41, and T-cell surface antigen LEU-9. CD7 is a ~40 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein, and it belongs to the immunoglobulin supergene family. CD7 binds its natural ligand K12/SECTM1, thereby playing a costimulatory role in T-cell activation. CD7 is also involved in other immune system processes, such as cell-surface communication and early lymphoid differentiation. CD7 is widely regarded as one of the earliest detectable surface markers during human T-cell ontogeny, particularly on early thymic CD34⁺ progenitors. CD7 is expressed at higher abundance in thymocytes and mature T cells and is expressed by natural killer (NK) cells, hematopoietic progenitors, and a subset of monocytes. Its broader expression across lymphoid compartments makes CD7 antigen an attractive marker for defining human T-cell and NK-cell populations in phenotypic and functional studies. Importantly, CD7 is expressed in more than 95% of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) and T-lymphoma (T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma, or T-LBL) cases and is also found in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). For targeting of the T-lineage-specific antigens, including CD5 and CD3, CD7 is commonly studied in immuno-therapeutics research involving targeting of malignant T-cell immunophenotypes, e.g., antibody-based targeting including tLNP-mediated mRNA delivery to T cells.
