At Bio X Cell, we are always looking for opportunities to support our scientists and their exciting research. This year, we supported our travel grant applicant, Julia Hoebart, on her travel expenses to attend the European Molecular Imaging Meeting (EMIM) in Goettingen, Germany. She presented results from her PhD project that used anti-mouse PD-L1 antibody (clone 10F.9G2) from Bio X Cell as a targeting moiety for radiotracer for preclinical imaging studies. This year's European Molecular Imaging Meeting (EMIM) was the first in-person scientific meeting after almost 1.5 years of virtual events. The abstract I submitted was selected for two oral presentations, a brief scientific elevator pitch and a 10-min scientific presentation. I presented the results obtained from positron emission tomography (PET) imaging studies in which I investigated the impact of oncolytic viruses (viruses employed as anti-cancer drugs) on the presence of the immune receptor programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1). My results basically showed that when one dose of oncolytic virus is injected into a murine head and neck cancer tumour, the presence of PD-L1 is increased in multiple systemic organs such as the spleen, the heart and the kidney, but not the injected tumour itself. In addition, radiomics analysis (a quantitative image analysis method) showed that pixel intensities were changed in tumours and even more so in the spleens.
Excitingly, I received a presentation award for my scientific elevator pitch.
