Product Description
Recombinant human IL-2 protein (interleukin-2) is a 15.5 kDa, 133-amino-acid single-chain glycoprotein that is central to the immune system, particularly T-cell development, growth and activity. Produced mainly by activated CD4+ T-cells in response to antigen, IL-2 binds the trimeric IL-2 receptor (IL-2Rα/CD25, IL-2Rβ/CD122 and the common gamma chain γc/CD132) to activate JAK-STAT and PI3K-AKT signaling, promoting cell survival, proliferation and differentiation. IL-2 drives expansion of effector T-cells that eliminate pathogens and cancer cells, supports regulatory T-cell (Treg) development to prevent autoimmunity, and enhances natural killer (NK) and B-cell activity. Clinically, IL-2 is used in cancer immunotherapy for metastatic melanoma and renal cell carcinoma, is investigated at low dose for autoimmune diseases such as lupus and type 1 diabetes to expand Tregs, and is explored in chronic infections, vaccine adjuvants and transplant tolerance, making recombinant IL-2 a key reagent for immunology and immunotherapy research.
This protein is optimized for in vivo and functional applications: low-endotoxin, tag-free, and carrier-free, supporting reproducible performance in demanding preclinical and bioactivity studies.
Species reactivity: human. Species similarity: mouse - 56%, rat - 57%, bovine - 71%, porcine - 69%.
