Product Description
This Evolocumab biosimilar antibody uses the same variable regions as the therapeutic antibody Evolocumab, making it ideal for research use. Evolocumab is a fully human IgG2 monoclonal antibody that targets proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9), a secreted serine protease that regulates plasma LDL cholesterol levels. PCSK9 binds to LDL receptors (LDLR) on hepatocytes and directs them toward lysosomal degradation, thereby reducing LDLR recycling and increasing circulating LDL cholesterol. By binding PCSK9 with high affinity, Evolocumab prevents its interaction with LDLR, leading to increased receptor availability on hepatocyte surfaces and enhanced clearance of LDL particles from circulation. Clinically, Evolocumab has demonstrated potent LDL-lowering activity in patients with hypercholesterolemia, familial hypercholesterolemia, and cardiovascular disease risk. This Evolocumab biosimilar is well suited for studying PCSK9 biology, lipid metabolism, LDLR regulation, hepatocyte signaling, and the mechanistic basis of therapeutic PCSK9 inhibition.
